Masseto

Masseto

The archaeological site of Masseto near Ama (Pratovecchio Stia) was investigated between 1985 and 2001 by the Archaeological Superintendency of Tuscany in cooperation with the Casentino Archaeological Group. The excavations brought to light four building structures from different periods that testify to the repeated frequentation of the site between the 10th century B.C. and the 15th-16th centuries A.D.. Immersed in a valuable naturalistic context on the borders of the Casentino Forest National Park, two of the four structures (A and D) can still be visited.
